A brilliant website for people who either like to walk or want to increase the amount they walk.
At the moment you can get routes in London, Newcastle / Gateshead, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Just key in your start and end points of a journey you need to make and it'll give you the quickest walking route, or if, like me, you'd prefer a less busy one, you can opt for that.
For those walking to get fitter / keep fit, it gives the calories consumed at different paces and for those walking because it's greener, it provides info on the amount of CO2 that's been saved over varying modes of transport.
It's great - you don't realise how close some places are to each other if you always take the tube / metro, so this really demonstrates not only how close places are, but the time it takes to get there - you can rely upon the time it takes to walk, but you can't rely upon any other form of transport to the same extent.
I certainly use it quite a bit in London and I've been checking out routes in Newcastle too.... worth a look Reply to this
